Many universities provide on-campus housing accommodation and for students open to all, or year 1 and 2 students which is usually paid for directly by the students or their families. The good news is that many universities will help students pay towards the cost of student housing, this could be merits based or based on financial need depending in whether a student qualifies for financial aid. If students are eligible for housing grants after their FAFSA application has been reviewed, then universities will help with housing costs in most cases.
Reducing the Cost and Need for Housing Grants
Students wishing to pursue a degree through traditional college or university studies usually have limited resources available, which usually means that students will forced to learn how to budget and manage their finances. Although financial aid is usually granted to many students, this alone is not enough money to completely cover the cost of tuition expenses. In some cases students can work towards reducing the cost of housing by opting firstly to live in less expensive accommodation. If this is possible students can further reduce their living expenses by choosing to live with room or house mates, enabling them to share the cost of utility bills and rent. This option is a good decision if students want to reduce their housing costs, and utilize any grants to pay for other important tuition expenses.
